DE — is currently the second most popular ccTLD by number of registrations, after .CN. The DE domain ranks third after COM and CN among all TLDs. Over 16,000,000 names are registered in the DE domain.
The DE domain control panel lets you change domain contacts, configure NS, and renew the domain. If the domain zone is not properly configured in DNS before the registration order is submitted, the domain will be registered without any name servers. You can check the domain and its DNS for correct configuration at denic.de. You can tell whether a DE domain has DNS issues via whois: a domain with correctly configured DNS shows Status: connect, while a problematic one shows Status: failed.
You can buy a DE domain for a term of up to 10 years. A renewal order for a DE domain must be submitted no later than 5 days before the registration expiry date. If this is not done, the domain will be automatically deleted and its status will change to redemptionPeriod (lasting 30 days).
