UA is Ukraine’s most prestigious domain. Today over 25,000 names are registered in the UA domain. The main feature of UA registration is the requirement to hold a trademark valid in Ukraine. The trademark can be Ukrainian or international, valid in Ukraine under the Madrid Protocol.
The registrant of a UA domain can only be the person or organization listed as the trademark owner.
Registration of UA domains is semi-automatic. This means all registration applications undergo mandatory moderation by the Administrator. The moderation period can be from 1 to 14 days. Based on the moderation result, the Administrator decides whether to register the domain. Applications for identical domains are processed in queue order — if a pending application already exists in the registry, no registrar can submit a new one.
The UA domain control panel lets you configure NS, renew the domain, or enable Privacy Protection.
After the expiry date, the UA registrant has a 28-day ARGP period to renew the domain registration. If renewal is not completed during the ARGP, the domain is sent for deletion from the registry (redemptionPeriod). During the redemptionPeriod (30 days), the domain can still be restored, though the restoration price is significantly higher than the renewal price.
If the registrant’s trademark expires during the domain’s registration term, renewal of the domain will not be available. For this reason, if you have a registered UA domain based on an expired trademark, you should contact our support team to update the trademark number.
